Soulshine Studio opened first at 88 East Market Street in April 2011, making a dream come true. We expanded in April 2014 at 26 East Market Street, adding a second floor with two party rooms and more product than ever before!  Inspiration could be found in every nook and cranny of the shop, including the Vault of Inspiration, a real walk in bank vault from 1910 that offers many free patterns and how-to's. The goal was to inspire all who enter to create, no matter your style! Soulshine Studio Bead Shop was truly THE PLACE TO BEAD!

As of April 2016, the brick and mortar shop closed, and Ann accepted the Administrative Manager postition at 171 Cedar Arts Center in Corning, NY.  This position is a perfect fit, allowing her to be involved with all things art, while still having lots of time for her own beadwork, teaching at bead shops and retreats, and online sales.

Ann Recotta took her first beading class with her daughters in 2003 and fell in love with beading immediately. She began making jewelry for herself, family and friends, then sold pieces online and at the frame shop where she worked full time.  The local bead shop went out of business, and voila! A crazy dream came true.  She enjoys teaching others about beading, and particularly loves to see that "aha" moment when a student understands that they too, can bead!

Ann's jewelry has been sold in shops in New York, Pennsylvania, Long Island, and Maryland, in the Corning Museum of Glass, and online to people all over the country. She has won numerous contests and teaches at bead shops, retreats, and locally at 171 Cedar Arts Center. She has taken workshops from world renowned bead embroidery artists Heidi Kummli and Sherry Serafini.  Ann was invited to compete in the 2014, 2015, and 2016 Battle Of The Beadsmith as one of only 264 competitors worldwide, truly an honor!

Ann is so appreciative of her family: husband and soulmate Bob, sons Joshua and Jacob, and daughters Ellyn and Emily. Her furbabies are special as well: cats Skinny Pete and Cricket.  Ann loves music, especially blues, and enjoys painting, drawing, loves gardening, and is vegetarian.  That's probably more than you wanted to know...

Remember, let your soul shine! It's better than sunshine, better than moonshine, and better than rain. (words by Warren Haynes)
