The Colorado Bead Retreat - You'll Never Bead The Same!

I've just returned from a fantabulous trip to Nederland, Colorado for a bead retreat. Wait...let me rephrase that.  THE bead retreat!!  It was the first Colorado Bead Retreat, and I hope there will be many more. Let me first say it was a smashing success.  The instructors for the workshops offered were....drumroll, please....Sherry Serafini and Heidi Kummli.  Both of them together in the same weekend, the same room, the same time....wow.

Betcey Ventrella of Beyond Beadery did a stellar job dreaming up this retreat and putting it together, with Rachel Hungary as her right hand woman.  They truly created a space for us to work, play, and learn while making new friends and rekindling old friendships.

I learned some new techniques and made some gorgeous pieces, but best of all, I have been inspired.

    Beads, beads, beads!!!

We've just added Twin beads to our products - they're so fun to use, and come in gorgeous colors. Look for classes coming up in April using them and the Tila beads.  We've got button covers in that you can bead, just in time for spring. You can change up the look of a long sleeve sheer blouse with a snap of a button cover, and having "jeweled" it yourself, it will be a great conversation starter. We also have more pearls, some in the gorgeous bright coral and emerald green for spring.

I'm working on some more advanced level kits as well as some pretty cool beaded items like napkin rings, bird feeders, and bottles. Be watching for these to come out in the next couple of weeks.

Bridal and prom jewelry will be out starting next week.  We're booking bridal jewelry making parties (they are a great time for the wedding party to bond or get reaquainted while making jewelry or favors for the wedding) as well as taking custom orders if you'd rather not do it yourself.

    Happy Beading,

    New Look

What do you think of the new website?  My hope is that it's easier for you to find information and really get a feel for what we do here. I do love what I do, and I love to share it with all of you. You are my inspiration!

Bead Bunch has started back up with an added time.  Every Monday from 1-3 PLUS Thursdays from 6-8. Bring your projects and coffee and spend time beading with friends. I find it so uplifting to be with others while working on something special, plus we can all help each other problem solve if need be. Sometimes it takes four of us, but we figure it out!

Spring break is coming up soon, so if you're going away and wanted some new jewelry to go with those new summer clothes, now's the time to do it! Stop in and get the latest in the Pantone colors of the season. We have beads, leather cord, chain, and lots of new pendants made right here in the studio. Stop in, we'd love to see you!

    New Friends

So, I've been thinking about finding a friend for Gemma.  I do love birds, but my four cats and one dog at home certainly won't allow that! Jen, one of the women who makes gorgeous lampwork beads for the shop, is going to New Zealand for a month (can you imagine?!?!), so I offered to take care of her 11 zebra finches for her while she's away. Well, the shop sounds like a pet shop, but I do so love it! They are sweet little creatures and so very pretty! Stop in and see them, but don't forget to give Gemma some attention too. Her beak is a bit bent out of shape, I think.  : )

We've got some new things in...lace adjusters, some new bezels for resin, and lots of new resin pendants made right here in the studio.  This week I'm offering the second in a series of resin classes - Resin Molds.  We'll make a bracelet and/or pendants using molds of various shapes and any ephemera we can find! It's a blast, and so cool to make your own personalized components.

Stay warm and safe during the next few weeks as winter rears her ugly head. Spring is right around the corner - hold that thought!

    Happy Beading,

    Fresh New Year

I'm excited to begin the new year beading! I know, I know, it's February. So, I'm running a little late...it takes me a bit to acclimate myself to the newness of 2013 and the journey that will unfold.

Gemma (our parakeet) is getting more and more tame, and I'm looking forward to perching her on my shoulder sometime this year.  She is inspiring!

February brings some funky resin classes, wire working, and fiber/lampwork glass earrings. I'm excited to share these fun new projects, and I advise you to sign up early for classes - they're already filling up!!

New kits are on the horizon - more difficult, challenging kits to take you to the next level. We'll also be running our usual Beaders Challenges and working on beaded squares for the Bead-It Forward Bead Quilt Project through Bead & Button Magazine.

Stay in touch, and remember, let your soul shine!
